Nice little restaurant couple of blocks away from Union Square SF, good and honest foods, attentive staffs

The top Korean restaurant (that I know of and have tried) (and that has been many!) in San Francisco. Unlike most Korean restaurants that stick to one "type" of fare, Dong Baek offers it all! They offer Korean BBQ, Korean Bar Food style (Fried Chicken, other apps), Korean Casseroles and Stews, and what's most importantly, a whole slew of ban chan (appetizers). Service can be spotty, depending on who is working when you dine, but the abruptness is not atypical of a Korean restaurant.

They blamed me for paying 10% tip. It's not that I didn't pay any tip, I paid 10% from the food's price. The lady checked the tip right in front of me and she said "Your friend doesn't know how to pay tips. You should teach her." to my friend even though I was right next to her. It was really rude for my friend and me. The lady also said "I gave you free coke...", it was diet coke and we didn't even ask for her to give it for free.

This place is incredible. Best bibimbap I've ever had. If you're feeling on the fence because the reviews seem bad... Just go and enjoy some real Korean food. With no wait, because the dumb reviews scared away everyone else.

They still have good foods tho menu is too tradition and pricy.

Random Korean restaurant tucked away in the Tenderloin. Service was prompt and the food was pretty good. Banchan was varied and good. I got the spicy stew with tofu and intestines. I really liked this, though I probably should have specified a lower spice level. The small size of the stew was enough food for two people at normal hunger levels. Their appetizers, as with all other Korean restaurants, were a little too pricey to justify on top of a $20 stew. For example, 8 bucks for some dumplings, or 12 bucks for an appetizer portion of seafood pancake. But if you come in a group, you can definitely take advantage of the number of people by ordering different things and sharing.

Over priced and not real homemade Korean foods.

Taste - ****Service - **Price - $$$Interior - **Interior - Interior is so dark. I guess the light is ok but overall wall and tables and chairs are dark. There are many tables and really good for larger group. Food - Most of foods are great. But cold noddle is worst. I often ate korean style chinese food. Black noddle, spicy noddle, sweet and sour fried pork all good. Side dishes are also tasty. Service - Service was not bad. However, when I left after pay, server asked me to give more tip. At that time, I ordered cold noddle and it was really terrible. I could not eat at all. So I gave tip.less than 15% The tip is to pay as much as I am satisfied with the service I receive, but they have no right to ask.

I love all the side dishes, but I wish they have the archives one. Can't go wrong with their Bulgari lunch and be be bim bop either. The service is awesome too and they always accommodate my family.

Korean Chinese food was pretty good. But hard to park and bit dangerous with kids

Terrible service! They don't care about dine in customer. We were waiting more than 40 mins even there were only 2 tables except us. They only took care of delivery order. No sorry, No eye contact. Also our next table's customers found INSECT in food!!! My wife told me she could not eat at there. So we just got out of there without seeing food after 40 mins waiting. Bad day. Please never try there!!!

This place never disappoints. They serve excellent food for affordable pricing, there are no long waits even when they are full.

One of my favorite Korean restaurant where I can call my friends and invite!

Considering I live above this restaurant and Korean food is one of my favorite cuisines, you would think I would frequent Dong Baek more. However, one of the largest barriers for me is the price (I never paid 16 dollars for tofu stew till I came to SF!). There are a lot of other Korean spots within five minutes of this place which have a wider selection of alcohol, food, and have a more modern ambiance. That being said, the service I have had at Dong Baek has always been spot on, and it's convenient for what it is.

I am FURIOUS about the delivery service!I ordered dinner delivery from this restaurant. After dinner, I was about to go to the front door and pick up my packages. And I saw my dinner receipt, with my name and information, attached on the hallway just by the elevator! ! I have no idea if the delivery person did that on purpose or not. But this is unacceptable to me!

Outstanding spot for quality Korean food. I love snacking here. The service was very helpful and observant. It has a good atmosphere.

I really enjoyed the food but it was very expensive. The food came in above average serving size which made the cost of each dish easier to swallow. I would come back when I have friends or family with me so we can take advantage of the family meals...so we can split the costs....

Wish could give 0 star! Found some hair in the noodle and the waiter dared to demand more tips than the total amount in my receipt! I have already reported to SF local police department. Never Go There!

Great Korean fare. We ordered the small seafood pancake, spicy rice cake with ramen noodles, kalbi, and the pork bone stew. Everything was delicious and hearty. There was plenty of banchan, tea, and rice, which was really welcomed. Will definitely be coming back here.

Quiet place with a wide selection of Korean dishes. Really good service. A bit on the pricey end though!

They have at least 8-10 side dishes. I love their chicken fried dishes. I don't think it's original Korean food but seems mixed or americanized. But their dishes are still good.

I came here for the ginseng chicken. Of course it's nothing like I had in Korea. Not very good. But I should've known better. The seafood pancake wasn't really good neither. Not enough green onion and too much flour for my taste.
Leonard Pak
Holy crap! Lots of great menu choices here. Does genuinely feel like a Korean restaurant. Generous portions too. Probably the best I've been to in SF thus far!
HYOUNGJUN PARK
Unbelievable that this restaurant survived at this location this long.

As good as it can get outside Korea, family style and well made.

So delicious!!

Foods are good, services are fine. It is over price for sure but Korean cuisine always expensive in the Bay Area for some reason. The outside of the restaurant is dangerous at the night. Homeless will jump on you for sure. Twice happened to me. Recommend for day time. Also give them more tips otherwise they will follow you and ask for more.

My favorite Korean place in SF!!! As a Korean, I guarantee this place is the most authentic Korean restaurant in SF!!!
